At Hillside, it is our goal that every member of our congregation have the opportunity to experience biblical Christian community. Invariably, this involves participation in a small group in which one can come to know, and be known by, other Christians such that one’s life can be safely and meaningfully shared. Such small groups can be formal or informal, task-related (e.g. Refreshment Team) or need-based (e.g. recovery groups) but these structures for relational connection are absolutely necessary to make it possible to obey the biblical commands to care for, indeed love, one another. This simply cannot be accomplished through once-a-week church attendance on Sunday mornings.

What is a Home Group?

A Home Group (or cell group) is like a small church – a place where biblical community happens. It is a group of between 8-15 people who are committed to sharing life together through prayer and worship, the study and application of God’s Word and by serving those who are in need (whether they are a group member or not). It’s also a great place for fun and friendship! Each Hillside home group is led by trained small group facilitators.
