Global Outreach
The mission of the Global Outreach team is to effectively assist our workers, encourage prayer, and facilitate education in order that Hillside can fulfill its vision for global outreach.
For the Glory of God, our vision is to have assisted the church in connecting deeply, growing fully, and serving passionately in the area of Global outreach.
We are always looking for more people to join with us in this endeavor. You can contact us at: go@myhillside.ca
Some of the people and agencies we support and encourage work close to our home, some are far away; all need your prayers and your encouragement and your support.*
Hillside dedicates approximately 10% of our annual budget to Global Outreach, if you would like to designate additional funds to our Global Outreach Ministry, please visit myhillside.ca/give for donation options. Please be sure to write Global Outreach in the memo line.
*Please note, special gifts to Global outreach workers or organizations given to Hillside directly are absorbed into the budget and are not given to the worker as an additional gift. If you wish to bless the worker with an additional gift please contact their sending agency directly. Write to go@myhillside.ca if you would like information

Ken and Carolyn have deep roots in Hillside’s soil and we love it when they come visit us. May we encourage you to attend any event where they are speaking, they are a wonderful couple and have such amazing stories to tell.

If you are unfamiliar with who these families are we invite you to ask a GO Team member or Hillside staff for stories of who they are and where they work and how they bring the love of Christ to the world.
If you are aware of these workers, we invite you to be praying with and for them these days as they work near and far and cope with all the restrictions of the Covid outbreak in their regions of the world.

Lauri Alward
Read More
Many years of working with the Hillside teams in Kenya convinced her to step out in faith, trusting in the Lord for the provision of support and make project management at HFL her full time career. The Lord has been faithful and Lauri is passionate about the work she is doing. Lauri has lived and worked among us here in the GVA, but she teams up with communities in distant countries (currently Guatemala, Uganda and Kenya) to help maximize their assets and lift up their people in partnership with more affluent communities in North America. The partnership provides each side of the equation with rich blessing: Human Flourishing and Spiritual Vibrancy.
The Alward family currently live in Chilliwack and would welcome your visit when you are in the area.

alongside pastors as a trusted companion, offering mentorship, friendship, training,
resources, and community. Their mission is to “seed hope and courage” by helping pastors grow in both character and leadership capacity, equipping them to serve Jesus and His Church with resilience, wisdom, and renewed confidence for the long journey of ministry.

Alpha Canada
Hillside has partnered with Alpha for nearly 30 years, offering the Alpha Course close to 50 times, as well as the Alpha Marriage Course and Alpha Parenting Course more than 10 times. We also celebrate a unique connection to Alpha through Jason Ballard, who grew up at Hillside and went on to create Youth Alpha, a resource now used in tens of thousands of churches, schools, and ministries around the world.

Over the years, we have seen Alpha help cultivate a church culture marked by prayerful expectancy, attentive listening, genuine hospitality, and courageous invitation. It has equipped our people for mission, created opportunities for spiritual conversations, and contributed to greater unity among churches across our city as we work together to help people encounter Jesus.
Alpha continues to be one of the most effective tools we have found for helping people encounter Jesus, grow in faith, and engage in meaningful spiritual conversations with friends, family, and neighbours.

New Story Community
Through a comprehensive six-month program, participants engage in healing and recovery, Bible and academic study, practical and vocational skills development, and personal goal setting and achievement.

Many Indigenous women face significant barriers to the dreams they have for themselves and their families. New Story Community is about seeing each woman with dignity and value. It is about walking alongside them, helping remove the labels, barriers, and obstacles that can stand in the way of living into their full potential.
They seek to create a safe, inspiring, and practical environment where Indigenous women can begin to imagine a hopeful future for themselves and their families. Together with Creator God, they work to write a new story — one marked by hope, healing, redemption, and flourishing.
Through community, support, and practical resources, they help equip women with the confidence, freedom, and opportunities to pursue that future for themselves and for future generations.
