Local Outreach

Jesus calls each of us to a high level of involvement in the lives of those around us, with the challenge He issues in Acts. 1:8. It goes beyond loving our neighbours to also witnessing in love and power to those in our region and in the world. Hillside supports several local outreach ministries within the Tri-Cities. You can find out more about them by going to their websites.

Hillside is strategically located to serve Coquitlam residents who depend upon this service and this is a fantastic way for Hillside to show God’s love to vulnerable families and individuals in our community.

Share Food Bank at Hillside has opportunities for new volunteers to serve on Wednesdays between 10:30 am and 2:30 pm. During this time, the tasks will include food distribution, welcoming and registering new users, helping people with their bags, bagging bread and produce, and handing out food to families in need. If you are interested, please email Krissie Sondles at krissie.sondles@sharesociety.ca

SHARE Food Bank is looking for two reliable registration volunteers who have strong communication skills and are able to engage with recipients and follow Food Bank policies and procedures.  These positions are ideal for those who are computer literate and can commit to an ongoing weekly schedule.

Time commitment: Wednesdays from 10:00am – 2:00pm

If you’re interested in these or other volunteer opportunities at the Food Bank, please contact Krissie Sondles, our Food Bank Supervisor, at 604-937-6988 or krissie.sondles@sharesociety.ca.

Join us on May 27th, 2023 for Move for Food in support of the Share Food Bank. Move for Food is a family-friendly 5km walk, bike, ride fundraiser that raises funds and collects non perishable food to support our local food bank. Hillside hosts the Share food bank every Wednesday and has seen up to 190 families come through in a single day.

To help support these families and more, join us in Mundy Park for a great time on May 27th or give online here or in person. Please make sure to designate the funds to “Move for Food” or “Share Food Bank”.

There will also be a hot dog lunch after so please register here to choose your type of hot dog.

Hillside sponsors four schools with annual grants towards their programs and their outreach to vulnerable students and families. Let’s be praying for these schools and teachers as they provide frontline care for children and youth in our community.
